The Meridian High School Wildcat Football team is ranked #1 in the state!! Way to go Cats!!

They face off against Quitman tonight at 7:30 p.m. in Ray Stadium.

Join us at 6 p.m. as WTOK broadcasts LIVE from Ray Stadium. The cheerleaders will be there, and we are asking our fans to join in the fun!

Career Pathway Students Get Interviewing Experience

Students enrolled in Deidre Bland’s Career Pathways class at Ross Collins Career and Technical Center got practical experience this week by participating in Mock Interviews.

MPSD Parent Resource Center Offers Babysitter Certification Class for Teens

On Saturday, September 15, teens will have the unique opportunity to learn valuable skills from the Red Cross. The course is meant to help students learn to care for children and infants; how to be good leaders and role models; how to make good decisions, solve problems, and stay safe; how to handle emergencies such as injuries, illnesses, and accidents; and to write resumes and interview for jobs.

The class will run from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 15 at the Parent Resource Center. To register, please call Gretchen Luvene, Parent Resource Center Coordinator, at 601.484.3646.

MHS Cheer Clinic

Saturday, September 15, 2012 - 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Register for a morning of fun and cheer with the Meridian High School Varsity Cheerleaders! The clinic will give children an opportunity to learn cheers, chants, and a dance that will be performed during the pre-game show of the MHS vs. Hattiesburg football game on Friday, September 28.

Don't miss out on this opportunity to get the 2012 MHS Homecoming T-shirt! MHS Homecoming is Friday, October 12 as the Wildcats play against Brandon at 7 p.m. in Ray Stadium. Orders are due by Thursday, September 20. All proceeds benefit the MHS Student Council.

Making A Change Program

For the past couple of months, the Meridian Public School District has been working collaboratively with several community partners in an effort to meet the needs of expelled students. As a result, Meridian Public School District, along with its partners in education, will begin the MAC (Making a Change Program) on Monday, September 10, 2012.

The MAC Program will provide online learning opportunities, one on one tutoring, mentoring, and workforce development experiences. This initiative showcases our efforts to reduce the dropout rate and increase our community efforts to address the needs of at-risk learners.

The Health Small Learning Community students will take their first field trip to gain knowledge of the health care industry in a “real world” setting.
