T.J. Harris Elementary Donates $386 to Red Cross

After watching news reports about the suffering taking place in the New York area after Hurricane Sandy, T.J. Harris Elementary Foster Grandparent Brenda Armstrong approached the school about helping the storm victims.

“My heart just went out to those families,” said Armstrong. “I am a mother and grandmother, and I wanted to do something to help.”

T.J. Harris Elementary students held a blue jean fundraiser to raise the funds and were able to donate $386 to the American Red Cross to help the storm victims.

American Red Cross Readiness and Response Manager Gordon Stewart said, “The money donated will be dedicated to Hurricane Sandy relief efforts and used to meet the emergency needs of the victims. We wish to thank T.J. Harris Elementary School students, teachers, staff, and Foster Grandparents.”

Students and Foster Grandparents made a special check presentation to the Red Cross on Tuesday, December 18.
