Weather Decisions

Wildcat Community,
I want everyone to know that we have been in constant contact with the Lauderdale Emergency Management Agency (LEMA) since yesterday.  Until 6:40 this morning, we were advised that road conditions in Meridian were favorable to have school. However at 6:40 this morning, due to the unexpected sleet that they detected heading toward the city, LEMA advised us that it would be best to close schools.
I do sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused any of you. The safety of our students and staff are always our number one priority. From now on, we will alter our procedures and start communicating with the Jackson weather headquarters directly. We will keep you posted on any further weather developments for tomorrow.
