2015-16 School Year Off to a Great Start

A special thanks to the MPSD administrators, teachers, students, parents, staff, and community members for helping the 2015-16 school year get off to such a great start! We are definitely stronger together!

MPSD Goes to the White House!

The Meridian Public School District was invited to the White House for a “Rethinking School Discipline” Conference recently. At the conference, MPSD was highlighted for the successful implementation of the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support program (PBIS)!

What’s New?

MPSD is implementing several new and exciting initiatives for the 2015-16 school year including:

-One to One Technology in the Middle Schools – each middle school student has a Chromebook (laptop) to work with each day
-New Science Labs have been added in each middle school
-Ross Collins Career and Technical Center is now offering Engineering and Computer Science “Project Lead the Way” courses
-A new Student Incentive program is in development

Are You Ready for Wildcat Football?

The MHS Wildcats will kick-off the season tonight with the “Football Jamboree.” MHS will host Kemper at 7 p.m. in Ray Stadium. Tickets are $5.

The regular season will begin next week when the Wildcats take on Madison Central at Ray Stadium at 7:00 p.m.

-Reserved Chair-Back Seating Season Ticket: $72 (includes reserved parking)
-Reserved Chair-Back Seating: $12 per game
-Reserved Chair-Back Seating Kids Zone Section: $40
-Reserved Chair-Back Seating for Kids: $8 per game
-General Admission Seating Season Ticket: $48
-General Admission Seating: $8 per game

Love Wildcat Sports? Use one of the following passes to come to all sporting events for one low price!
-All Sport Adult Reserved Seating Pass: $100 (includes reserved seating at football games and parking)
-All Sport Adult Pass: $80
-All Sport Student Pass: $50
-Student Athlete Pass: $25 (MHS Student Athletes can use this pass to attend other sporting events throughout the year.)

Initiative 42 Forum to be Held Next Week

The Secretary of State’s office is hosting a forum on Thursday, August 20 at 5:30 p.m. at the Temple Theatre in Meridian. The public forum is being held to share the pros and cons of Initiative 42 as well as the alternative passed by the Legislature. We hope to see you there!

Golden Apple Award Nominations

MPSD is pleased to have five teachers from our district awarded Golden Apples since the program began at the beginning of the 2012-13 school year. The Golden Apple Awards will continue this year, so nominate your favorite teacher by visiting either www.meridianstar.com or www.wgbctv.com and clicking on the Golden Apple logo.

Nominations can be submitted by parents, faculty, or community members, as well as past and present students, so let’s use this opportunity to highlight the talent in our District!
