PBIS Teachers of the Year for 2014-15

The Meridian Public School District recently recognized 13 teachers for their outstanding implementation of the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS) program during the 2014-15 school year.

Labor Day Holiday

All MPSD schools and offices will be closed on Monday, September 7 in observance of the Labor Day Holiday.

Save the Date! MPSD Parent University: The Compass – Our Roadmap to Success

The Meridian Public School District will be hosting the first Parent University of the 2015-16 school year entitled “The Compass – Our Roadmap to Success” on Tuesday, September 22 at 6 p.m. in the MCC Dulaney Center. This event will feature information on MPSD’s new direction, feature student performances, offer opportunities to win door prizes, and much more! You don’t want to miss this Parent University, so mark September 22 on your calendar!

Meridian High School Advanced Women’s Choir to Perform at MSU

The MHS Advanced Women’s Choir has been selected to perform at the 5th Annual Choral Colloquium: Honor Choir and Teachers Seminars to be held at Mississippi State University on September 13-14, 2015. The MHS Choir is one of five schools invited to perform at this prestigious event that includes schools from all over the Southeast.

Congratulations to Crestwood, Oakland Heights, and Poplar Springs Elementary Schools for being chosen as feature schools in the latest edition of the PBIS SEEDS publication!

PBIS SEEDS stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports: Seeing Excellence Emerge in Our Districts and Schools and is a publication of Reach MS and the University of Southern Mississippi.

MHS Cheerleaders Earn Second Place at Camp

Congratulations to the 2015-16 MHS Cheerleaders for earning second place at UCA Cheerleading Camp! The Squad was also awarded Camp Champions in Sideline Cheers, and they received Superior ratings throughout the week in Extreme Routine, Sidelines, Cheer Evaluations and Home Pom Dance. Wally the Wildcat earned an overall Superior Rating as well. Click here to learn more.

Golden Apple Award Nominations

MPSD is pleased to have five teachers from our district awarded Golden Apples since the program began at the beginning of the 2012-13 school year. The Golden Apple Awards will continue this year, so nominate your favorite teacher by visiting either or and clicking on the Golden Apple logo.

Poplar Springs Elementary School will host Visiting Artist Britt Gully. He will perform in character as "Jimmie Rodgers" to kick off the 3rd grade study of our hometown Meridian.
