Meridian High School makes donation to help Hurricane Harvey victims

MERIDIAN, SEPTEMBER 19, 2017 - Meridian High School raised over $1,000 to benefit those affected by Hurricane Harvey earlier this month.
"We are donating a check to benefit the victims of Hurricane Harvey," said Miles Miller, Meridian High Student Body President."Being apart of the student council is being able to help others and that is our main focus."
Meridian High School was able to surpass their goal by raising $1,100.
"Anytime a tragedy like this occurs, we wonder what can we do to help," said Amy Carter, Meridian Public School District Superintendent. "I applaud the students of Meridian High School for coming together to help those in need."
Miller noted that the student council is still discussing ways that they may be able to help victims of Hurricane Irma.
"It makes me proud to know that we have students that are giving back to those that have experienced hardship during this time." said Victor Hubbard, Meridian High School Principal.
The funds raised by Meridian High School are being donated to the Red Cross to assist in relief efforts.
