McFarland Named Northwest Middle School Interim Principal back button

Northwest Middle School has a new interim principal. Jackie McFarland, a Meridian High School graduate, will begin leading Northwest Middle School this week. McFarland comes to Northwest from Magnolia Middle School where she served as Assistant Principal. She replaces Bruce Pugh who resigned to pursue other interests outside of the Meridian Public School District.

“Ms. McFarland has been an educator for the Meridian Public Schools for over 14 years, and she has shown an exemplary track record,” said Dr. Alvin Taylor, Superintendent. “We are proud to have her leading the Northwest students and staff.”

McFarland’s love for MPSD runs deep. Her parents are both retired teachers from this district, and her child also attends school within MPSD.

“I am excited to work with the Northwest Middle School team,” said McFarland. “We are going to work hard to make sure that each and every student is successful in academics and behavior.”

McFarland is a 1991 MHS graduate. She earned an Associate of Arts degree from Meridian Community College, Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Mississippi State University, Masters of Elementary Education and Educational Administration from University of West Alabama, and Specialist in Educational Leadership from Mississippi State University.
