Dr. Taylor's Blog: On a Positive Note... 9.2.11 back button

To: The Parents, Staff, and Community of Meridian

As we wrap up the first month of school, I am extremely pleased to say that the Meridian Public School District is off to a great start!  I am also proud to report that the MPSD staff is working together as a team, the community is being very supportive, and the vast majority of the students are behaving and working hard. What an exciting time this is for Meridian and MPSD!

I want you to know that we are focused and working hard to achieve our goal of becoming a "Successful" district by the end of the school year. The district is currently working on several projects that will help us achieve this goal. They include:

-A Superintendent Advisory Committee- This team was recently formed and is comprised of a teacher from every school building. They will help move the district forward by making improvements to existing policies and procedures.

-Close relationships with community leaders- We are making a concerted effort to develop close relationships with many of our community leaders to ensure that the children of Meridian receive a high-quality education.

-Making strides to become an innovator in the area of public education- MPSD is doing this by initiating, implementing or improving upon key programs such as workforce development, alternate diploma tracks, teacher incentive programs, Fine Arts, virtual schools, and small learning communities.

I want to thank everyone in the district for their hard work. You are doing a wonderful job!

I also want to say a big thank you to parents and community members for believing in us and supporting us.

Go Blue!!

Sincerely,

Dr. Taylor
