Ninth Grade Students Get a Dose of Reality back button

Ninth grade students at Meridian High School took a trip to "Realville" this week thanks to the Junior Auxiliary of Meridian. JA hosted this program that aims to teach students about the tough realities of money management in the "real world."

Each student was assigned an occupation, annual salary, and family status. From this salary, students must purchase groceries, housing, utilities, clothing, childcare, insurance, etc.

It is a very eye opening experience for students to see just how fast money can go and the importance of earning an education.

Junior Auxiliary Member Dana VanVeckhoven helps Meridian High School student Dayja Johnson manage her monthly expenses in "Realville."
