Dr. Taylor's Blog - On a Positive Note... back button

Wildcat Parents and Community Members,

As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, I want you to know how thankful I am for your support! I am also extremely thankful for the hard work and dedication that our teachers show to the students of Meridian. Their commitment to a new level of excellence is evident as the first nine weeks Common Assessment scores show continued improvement.

Our District goal is a QDI of 145 this year, so we are going to keep up the momentum to reach that goal. There are only five weeks left before our second nine weeks Common Assessments, and I am excited to see even more improvement.

MPSD is kicking off a new program through the International Center for Leadership in Education (ICLE). This program focuses on three R’s – rigor, relevance, and relationships, and it will help us ensure that our students leave high school prepared for college and a career. The Center builds its work around successful practices from highly effective schools, and we are centering our school district’s work around student achievement. We will be working to improve instructional leadership, organizational leadership, and teaching. You will be hearing more about this in the near future.

As we look toward the 2013-14 school year, I am working on two very important things that I think will be very exciting for our staff. The first is that all classified employees will receive a raise! The second is that I am working to secure some early release days for more collaboration and professional development!

As we head into the holiday season and throughout the rest of the year, the District is going to be focused on “Creating Top-Down Support for Bottom-Up Success,” because I know that supporting the teachers of MPSD is the key to success for our students and our District.

Continue to Believe in Blue,
