City school district gets high marks on audit

The Meridian Public School District's finances are in good order, according to the Mississippi State Auditor's Department.

The office has released the district's annual financial audit for the year ending June 30, 2013. The audit had no material findings and the school district received a certificate for achievement in financial reporting for this accomplishment, according to Stacey Pickering, state auditor.

“I would like to congratulate the Meridian Public School District for their exemplary work over the previous year which led to this clean audit,” Pickering said.

The audit, performed by Fortenberry & Ballard PC on behalf of the Office of State Auditor.

"We are very proud of the Meridian Public School District Finance Department," said Dr. Alvin Taylor, superintendent. "They work tirelessly to ensure the district is financially sound and always in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations."
