T.J. Harris Lower Elementary Students are College Bound

All T.J. Harris Lower Elementary students are focused on college! The "College is Our Destination" Rally will be held Friday at 2 p.m. and is essentially a pep-rally that kicks off the year-long effort to promote college planning for students.

Each classroom at T.J. Harris Lower campus represents a college or university. The students will learn the history of that school, follow the sports teams of the school, participate in math projects based on the sports stats, hear from guest speakers (in person or via podcast), and will host their own college fair.

In addition, students that come to school on time every day, have no office discipline referrals, and maintain a "C" or better average  will be allowed to wear their college t-shirts on Fridays because they have exhibited college bound behaviors.

2014-15 Reading Fair

The Office of Instructional Support is pleased to announce our participation in the annual Mississippi Reading Fair. The state Reading Fair provides students in grades Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade the opportunity to share their favorite book through a story board display.

Students have the option of entering projects individually, with peers, or with family members.

Each school will set its own date for a school Reading Fair.  First place school winners will advance to the District Reading Fair. The district level Reading Fair will be held January 22, 2015.
